Caroline is now 4 months (on November 28th). We went to the dr. today and she is now...
Weight: 12 lbs 10 oz(25th%)
Length: 24 in (25th %)
HC:15 5/8 in (5-10%)
Her dr. says that she is very petite, but that she is growing just fine so it's ok. She also says that I have an angel baby that every mother dreams of, and that I will probably never get that again. I agree, I do have an angel baby. Even though she is teething, she still sleeps pretty good...not as good as before, but still good. She eats well and apparently I am lucky that breastfeeding has come so easy. I love it, and it's good for her, so we both win. She is hitting every baby milestone right on time. Let's hope it continues!
Here are some things about her and what she has accomplished in the past month.
*She has discovered her feet. She likes to play with them, look at them, and even eat them :) *She now rolls over, but only when she has no clothes or just a onesie on. *She has become very vocal. She will scream (in happiness) at us when we talk to her. If we are doing something other than paying attention to her and she has no toys, she let's us know we need to play with her. Oh, and this morning, at 5:30, I heard her in her bed babbling away to herself. What a great way to wake up! *She now has a tooth! One of her bottom teeth has come in, which I discovered when she bit me! *The second she has no clothes on she will wiggle herself all over the room. It's so funny! When she has clothes on, she just lays there and looks at whatever toys are above her. *She likes to play with and eat her toys. She has a favorite toy...it's this little lamaze doll that squeeks and makes all kinds of noises. She could play with it forever.
Caroline is going on her first airplane ride next week. We are going to New Mexico to see my family. Any tips for flying with babies would be helpful. I'm curious how I am going to bring the stroller and car seat? I don't NEED to bring it, but I feel like it would be easier to transport her and my luggage around the airport if I had it. Or would you recommend the baby bjorn instead? Luckily I don't have to bring too many things because I am staying with my step sister who has a baby girl just a little bit older then Caroline.
Happy 4 months Caroline!
Teething!
You can see her little tooth in this picture...on her left side. And yes, she did get her ears pierced today. I feel really bad...I didn't think I would feel this bad, so please only positive comments about this...no "why would you do that?" comments!
I LOVE this picture. She look just like Tom. He makes that exact face all the time.
She will not roll over on camera...no matter how hard I try...but, she's still super cute!

Aw, I love it!
She is so adorable!
She is seriously so cute!
And, I would give her some baby Ibuprophin or something right before the flight. It will kick in and help with the pressure in her ears which could be intensified since she's teething.
Make sure when you are taking off, to have her sucking on a binki or bottle...it helps the pressur bot be so intense as well.
Your car seat can be checked and you can use your stroller up to the gate, they will tag it there, take it down, and when you come off the plane, it will be right there! So wonderful!!!
Oh my goodness- her earings are adorable!!! I can'r believe how big she is in that video... aren't they so fun?! I went to the Dr. yesterday for shots and asked him about hte plane. He said she is old enough for Benadryl so I can give her that to sleep, other then that he didn't say much! See if Carolinei s old enough to take that. My sister in law has flown a ton with her baby. She always brings a portable DVD player with Baby einstein or something. She also brings somehing for them to suck on while the planes takes off or lands... like a binki or bottle. That way there ears don't hurt as bad. Good Luck! Have Fun!!!
Most people that I see bring a baby bjorn, car seat and stroller. You should be able to carry her through security in the Baby Bjorn, the airline will gate check your stroller and carseat. (that way you don't have to pay). As far as on the plane, I don't know, I'm not a mom yet. =)
a stroller is most helpful unless you're using a snuglie thingy!! good luck and great times with the haggards!
I flew with Nicholas when he was 4 months old. All of the above comments worked for me, too. You may want to test her reaction to Benadryl ahead of time, though. We discovered that it made Nicholas wide awake, instead of making him sleep.
Having friendly flight attendants helps, too. With Caroline being as adorable as she is, I'm sure you will have people just jumping to help you out with anything you might need. Have fun!
Hi Sarah! I agree, Caroline is super cute! She is just so precious. I have flown with Braden a ton. We have probably been on around 16 flights (8 round trip), all but a few by myself. A baby carrier works great when you go through security so your hands are free to take off shoes, fold the stroller up and put it through the x-ray machine, etc. However the stroller is nice while you are waiting to board the plane so you can use the restroom, although I will admit, I have gone while holding Braden in the carrier. I would always nurse Braden during take off and landings to help with the pressure in his ears. If she takes a binky or a bottle, that works too. Braden would usually fall asleep nursing and sleep most of the flight. A few flights I did feel like I nursed the whole time though! Bring whatever she is interested in. Little toys, books. Bring extra clothes for her, and lots of diapers. I would always bring an extra shirt for me too in case there was a major spit up. I have never used meds when we fly. So the first time I flew with Braden, he was 3 1/2 months, and I was so nervous. As I got up to get in line to board the plane, I was carrying Braden in the baby carrier, and he had a major blowout all over his clothes. I changed him on the seat right when I sat down on the plane. It totally freaked out the flight attendant, but they are usually really nice and helpful. Good luck, and let me know how it goes!
Was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours. Loved your description about having your dd's ears pierced.
This was a perfect age to pierce her ears! You were a smart mommy for doing it now.
Our ped encouraged me to go ahead at 6 wks and gave me some suggestions for moms having their infant dd's ears pierced as well as for care of newly pierced ears.
If any other moms are uncertain, then write me an e-mail if you'd like out ped's tips.
